The N64 revolutionized gaming but Sony perfected it. Nintendo deserves respect for its inovations, but Playstation destroyed N64 for good reasons.

That’s true, but I think that the N64 stigma comes from the string of G-rated cartoonish games Nintendo kept cranking out. The older gamers felt like the Nintendo was for kids. Playstation games also tended to “look” better due to higher resolution.

I think younger gamers can’t imagine how amazing this 3D graphic was. I never saw anthing like this before, in 1997 (I know the release was earlier but not for me :-P ).

I’m actually going to say that this was not the first 3D platformer. While it is the first to be strictly based around exploration of an environment and the first to introduce the concept of collecting tokens to advance in the game, there was an earlier polygon-based 3D platformer named “Alpha Waves” back in 1990 by Infrogrames: the first platformer to feature a moving camera (in 3D) and 3D platforming sections.

Yeah, it wasn’t as influential, but it preceded even Mario 64.

Man, I remember first seeing this on display at Target back in the day, it blew my mind. Great game, I still play it from time to time.

this game wowed my world when I was 10. So colorful, so much exploration, the music blended well. This game is a master piece.

Yeah, I hate the crap the n64 gets. It was awesome.

There is nothing 3D about DCK on the SNES. Its all 2D sprites created on a 3D render farm. In other words the 2D pictures were made from 3D objects when the game was made. But on the SNES nothing is 3D in anyway what so ever.

Would Donkey Kong Country Count as a true 3D game for the SNES???

    more characters,
    more stars,
    and easier.
those are the differences between the N64 version and the DS version.

Problem I have with the controller is that the stick gets loose as time goes on.
